FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Republican Liberty Caucus Of Texas Endorses Jerry Patterson For TX Land Commissioner
Houston, Texas – January 11, 2018 – Today, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas threw their support behind former Senator & Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson in his race against George P. Bush to return to his previously held position as Texas’ Land Commissioner.
Jerry Patterson was one of the original founders of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas back in the 1990’s and has remained an honored member in the group ever since, sponsoring many activities and speaking at their convention back in 2016. Additionally, he has served as a Texas State Senator and is known as the ‘grandfather’ of the open carry gun movement. Back in a very different Texas Legislature than today, when Democrats held a majority, he risked his personal political career when he sponsored and shepherded a number of bills, including the successful 1995 effort and the equally important 1997 revision, for Texan’s right to conceal carry firearms for protection, which previously was not an option for Texans.
“I proudly back Mr. Patterson, and I am very happy to see the board of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas back a truly great Texan that has done much for our State and surely can handle the current situations in the Land Commissioners’ office with far better care and a better outcome than we are currently headed.” – Jeff Leblanc, Chairman RLCTX.
Carmen Calderone, RLCTX Vice Chairman, echoed a similar feeling saying, “Jerry Patterson served Texas well as Land Commissioner in the past, and I’m so glad to see him running again. He sees that Texas needs his service again, after the failures of the current Land Commission Administration.”
The Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas proudly supports and endorses Jerry Patterson for Texas Land Commissioner and urges all Republicans, its members, and allies to strongly support his candidacy.
